Central rail station inaugurated in Lobito, Angola

The Benguela Railroad (CFB) central station in the city of Lobito was inaugurated on Monday in a ceremony chaired by Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos, Angolan news agency Angop reports.

The CFB currently counts 67 stations. It is 1,344 km long and crosses the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico.

The railroad is served by five passenger trains with 12 carriages each and a train set for merchandise that includes container wagons, platforms and fuel tanks.

The CFB also includes branch lines to the port of Lobito (7 km long) and Benguela city (27.3 km) and a double line between Lobito and the airport (19.55 km). (macauhub)
