A new cement plant has been inaugurated in Benguela, reports National Radio of Angola (RNA).

The new Cimentfort cement production unit is located in the municipality of Catumbela.

Cimentfort currently has a production capacity of about 720,000 tonnes of cement per year. This should increase to a million tonnes at the end of 2012.

Other recently inaugurated Angolan cement plants include Cimangola and Bom Jesus in Benguela and CECIL in Lobito.

RNA indicated that Angola will not need to import any more cement from abroad until 2017. (macauhub)
