The new domestic terminal at Luanda International Airport was inaugurated last week, and has 25 check-in desks with capacity to deal with 2 million passengers per year, according to state newspaper Jornal de Angola.
On that occasion the Transport Minister, Augusto Tomás said that construction of the terminal, which is part of the Programme of Rehabilitation of Airport Infrastructure, cost 3 billion kwanzas (US$31.3 million).
The minister noted that in the last two years the airports of Cabinda, Huambo, Benguela, Malange, Ndalatando, Ondjiva, Soyo, Saurimo, Mbanza Congo, Dundo, Catumbela, Cuito Cuanavale, Uíge, Luena and Lubango have been modernized and expanded.
By the end of the year the airports in the city of Uíge, Luena and Menongue are die to be inaugurated and Luanda International Airport will open in 2014.
At the ceremony, the chairman of state airport manager Empresa Nacional de Aeroportos e Navegação Aérea (ENANA), Manuel Ceita, said that the domestic, covers an area of 12,000 square metres over three floors. (macauhub)
