The Mozambican Export Promotion Institute (Ipex) plans to increase the return it gets from the venue where it currently holds the Maputo International Fair (Facim), in Ricatla, with a number of events planned for this year, the president of Facim said Monday.
João Macaringue cited as examples of events that have already been scheduled, a quarterly cattle fair or sale and national and international conferences, and in the latter case Facim has been in negotiations with the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre.
“When the fair is not on, the pavilions are able to be transformed into real conference rooms, the restaurants will remain open throughout the year and we expect areas to be hired for weddings and baptisms,” said Macaringue cited by Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias.
The president, who was summing up the results of the 48th edition of Facim, also said that the event, which was held between 27 August and 2 September of this year, had been visited by 93,000 people.
During the event 20 seminars were held as well as 4,050 meetings, 3,010 of which are likely to result in partnerships or future business interests, Macaringue said. (macauhub)
