Chinese group CITIC supports agricultural development in Angola

Chinese business group CITIC is supporting agricultural development in the Angolan provinces of Uíge and Malanje by setting up agricultural research centres, the chairman of the group, Chang Zhenming said Wednesday in Luanda.

Cited by Angolan news agency Angop, Chang said that the involvement of Chinese technicians in the process had been discussed Tuesday in the Angolan capital, at a meeting the Chinese delegation had with the Agriculture and Fishing Minister, Pedro Canga.

In the case of Malanje province the project is at a more advanced stage as a modern agricultural research centre ahs already been built, which is being run by Chinese technical staff.

The chairman of the CITIC group also said that a group of 28 Angolan technicians, that had already been selected, would travel to China for training over a period of two years.

After conclusion of the studies, the members of the group will ensure the operation of the agricultural research centre in Malanje, and will also provide support to other institutions in the sector, including the centre in Uíge province.

The CITIC group, which is made up of over 60 companies from a variety of sectors, including finance, agriculture, real estate, telecommunications and industry (manufacturing machinery and equipment). (macauhub)
