Portuguese group Hipogest is preparing to enter the Mozambican market by launching the Hertz car rental brand, which it already represents in Portugal, Cape Verde, and Angola, business owner Hipólito Pires told Portuguese financial newspaper Diário Económico.
This new market, which is due to start operating in 2013, will be managed by the group’s vice president, Duarte Guedes, whilst Hipólito Pires will be responsible for the businesses set up in Angola.
Guedes told the newspaper that he had been in Mozambique, “two weeks ago to prospect the market,” after Hertz asked its Portuguese partner to assess the possibility of extending the car rental business to the East African country.
The vice president of the group also said that Hipogest had also studied the size of the automotive market in Mozambique in order to find other opportunities in other areas, such as automotive sales, a business in which the group is involved in both Portugal and Angola. (macauhub)
