4 October 2012

The first edition of the Angola International Tourism Bourse (Bitur Angola) is due to take place in Luanda, from 11 to 14 October, organised by the Ministry for Hotels and Tourism and the International Luanda Fair (FIL).

The event is entitled “Promoting Angola’s tourism assets publicises it tourist attractions,” and involves Angolan and foreign institutions and companies such as airlines, travel agencies, hotels, insurers and financial institutions, and this first edition of the event will have 200 exhibitors housed in two pavilions.

The partnership between the Tourism sector and FIL is intended to publicise culture, history, cuisine, the natural world and landscape and make Angola and its riches better known, as well as offering an opportunity to reflect on the tourism sector and discuss the strategies needed for its development.

This initiative is part of a government strategy to promote tourism in Angola, for which it has set a target of attracting 4.6 million tourists by 2020 and hopes to create 1 million direct jobs in the tourism sector. (macauhub)
