Turkish businesspeople take part in business forum in Mozambique

A delegation of businesspeople from Turkey are due Friday to take part in Maputo in the Turkey/Mozambique economic forum, a source from the Investment Promotion Centre (CPI) told Macauhub in Maputo.

The forum will include a business contact bourse between businesspeople from both countries in the areas of construction, textiles and clothing, machinery, refrigeration systems, chemical products and water treatment, amongst others.

Companies from Turkey, which has yet to make an impression in terms of its economic relationship with Mozambique, is taking part in the Maputo International Fair (Facim) for the first time this year, where it is exhibiting, amongst other products, construction materials and agricultural equipment.

The latest figures compiled by the CPI show that Turkey is the 26th biggest foreign investor in Mozambique, having invested US$98,000, on a list of countries headed by Portugal, which invested US$115 million in the same period.

Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Business Council in partnership with the CPI and the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) is due to organise the Commonwealth Economic Forum in the third week of this month.

A source form the CPI told Macauhub that hundreds of businesspeople from a number of Commonwealth countries were expected to take part in the event. (macauhub)
