Portugal’s exports to China rise 45.8 percent between January and September

Portuguese exports to China rose 45.8 percent in the first nine months of 2012, to almost US$1.2 billion, which was more than for the whole of 2011, according to Portugal’s ambassador to China.

“There was a slight slowing in September, but the figures remain encouraging,” the Portuguese ambassador, José Tadeu Soares told Portuguese news agency Lusa.

According to Soares, based on figures from the Chinese Customs Service, between January and September of this year, Portuguese exports to China totalled US$1.192 billion, which was an increase of 45.8 percent against the same period of 2011.

Portugal’s imports from China, meanwhile, fell 12.8 percent, to US$1.877 billion. (macauhub)
