Ceragon Networks to expand Moçambique Celular microwave network

14 November 2012

The US company Ceragon Networks (http://www.ceragon.com/) has received an order from state-owned Moçambique Celular (mCel) to expand the Mozambican operator’s microwave network begun in 2010, the company announced in a statement released on Tuesday.

Under terms of the US$6.5 million contract, Ceragon Networks will expand the mCel network from the city of Beira in central Mozambique to Nampula in the north, and also update existing connections.

The expansion will enable the provision of better services to mCel customers by increasing redundancy and ensuring higher network capacity, the statement indicates.

Moçambique Celular is the country’s biggest mobile telephone operator, with more than 4.5 million customers. (macauhub)
