27 November 2012

The Flavours from Brasil promotion that took 18 Brazilian food and drinks companies to China, resulted in business deals in excess of US$55 million, one of the events’ organisers, export and investment promotion agency Apex-Brasil, said.

The promotional event, organised by the Brazilian Ministry for Development, Industry and Foreign Trade and by Apex-Brasil, was held on 20 and 21 November in Beijing.

For two days meetings were held between Brazilian companies from the beef, chicken, and pork sectors, as well as the coffee, wine and honey sectors, and 45 potential buyers from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, which resulted in signing contract for 2013.

The event also included activities to provide information about Brazil, which were led by Apex-Brasil’s partners for specific sectors such as the Brazilian Poultry-rearing Union (União Brasileira de Avicultura), the Brazilian Association for the Meat Exporting Industries (Associação Brasileira das Indústrias Exportadoras de Carne), the Brazilian Association for Pork Production and Export (Associação Brasileira da Indústria Produtora e Exportadora de Carne Suína), the Brazilian Wine Institute (Instituto Brasileiro do Vinho) and the Brazilian Special Coffee Association (Associação Brasileira de Cafés Especiais).

Apex-Brasil previously held the Flavours of Brazil event in other priority markets for the food and beverage industry, such as Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Riyadh(Saudi Arabia) and Johannesburg (South Africa), in 2009 and 2010. (macauhub)
