Portuguese company Vista Alegre Atlantis increases sale sin Brazil but ends September with a loss

Portuguese ceramics and glass company Vista Alegre Atlantis posted sales of 1.75 million euros in Brazil between January and September, compared to 1.71 million euros in the same period of last year, according a report and accounts filed with Portuguese stock market regulator Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM).

Growth was of just 2 percent, but was enough to take Brazil from sixth to fifth biggest market for Vista Alegre Atlantis, behind Portugal, France, Spain, and Germany.

From January to September the Portuguese company sold 35 million euros of porcelain, 250,000 euros of earthenware, 129,000 euros of fireproof ceramics and 16,000 euros of lead crystal and glass.

In the report Vista Alegre said it expected “an improvement” in its sales in Brazil over the next few months.

The group ended the first three quarters of the year with total sales of 38.8 million euros, year-on-year growth of 2 percent, and a loss of 4.6 million euros, or 5 percent less than in 2011. (macauhub)
