Mozambique’s Kaya Airlines last weekend started flying to Inhaca island, Mozambican news agency AIM reported adding that the airline would also launch flights to Machangulo and Zongoene.
Inhaca island is a tourist destination in Maputo bay, Machangulo is on a peninsula near Inhaca island and Zongoene is a tourist resort near the Limpopo river delta, in Gaza province.
The chairman of Kaya Airlines, Faustino Cruz, told AIM that flights to Inhaca would be carried out at the request of the local population as they were not financially viable otherwise.
Cruz also said that the airline would buy a further five aircraft: An executive jet with eight seats, three 50-seater jets and another jet with 75 seats. The airline is due to take delivery of the aircraft in the next four months.
Kaya Airlines, which was previously called TransAirways, changed its name when it was acquired by the Tiko company. (macauhub)
