14 December 2012

Angolan and Spain Wednesday in Luanda signed a cooperation agreement for the areas of the merchant navy, ports and air transport, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

Spain development Minister, Ana Pastor, who said the agreement was an, “important point in bilateral relations,” praised the work that the Transport Ministry was doing to repair, modernise and build new rail, air and sea facilities.

The agreement, which was signed by Angola’s Transport Minister Augusto Tomás, and by Spain’s Development Minister, was part of a working visit by the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel Garcia Margallo Y Marfil, who has been in Angola since Tuesday.

At meeting held as part of this visit, the chairman of Angolan oil company Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola (Sonangol), Francisco de Lemos José, invited Spanish businesspeople to invest in the gas industry.

In response the Spanish minister said that the fact that Spain had a lot of experience in producing energy would, “help to drive business with Sonangol.” (macauhub)
