Angola’s national fuel concession company Sonangol is expected in 2013 to hold a second auction of exploration licenses for the pre-salt layer in Angola, this time for onshore blocks, state news agency Angop reported.
According to Angop ten blocks will be auctioned off in the Soyo Basin and five in the Kwanza Basin.
Through this new auction Sonangol intends to attract small and medium sized companies to drill for oil in those areas.
The last pre-salt layer (offshore) auction was held in January 2011.
Meanwhile the Angolan Oil Ministry said that average daily oil production in 2012 stood at around 1.7 million barrels per day.
Figures from the ministry show that oil production in Angola is expected to increase from 1.8 million barrels per day to 2 million barrels by 2014. (macauhub)
