Macau’s exports rise by 20 pct in first 11 months of the year

Macau’s exports rose 19.9 percent in the first 11 months of the year against the same period of 2011, but did not offset the two digit balance of trade deficit according to official figures.

According to the Statistics and Census Bureau between January and November exports totalled 7.48 billion patacas and re-exports rose 32.2 percent to 5.38 billion patacas whilst domestic exports dropped by 3.3 percent to 2.09 billion patacas.

In the same period imports totalled 64.47 billion patacas, which represented a rise of 15.4 percent against the same period of 2011.

Macau’s balance of trade deficit increased by 14.9 percent on reaching 56.99 billion patacas

From January to November of this year exports to Hong Kong rose 37.4 percent (3.78 billion patacas) and to mainland China rose 25.1 percent (1.24 billion patacas), against the year-ago period.

Macau exported 470 million patacas of goods to the United States, which was a 6.5 percent drop, and 285 million patacas of goods to the European Union, or a year-on-year fall of 18.2 percent. (macauhub)
