Angola’s Hotel and Tourism Ministry to support local festivals

11 January 2013

The Angolan Ministry of Hotels and Tourism will this year begin providing technical, material and institutional support to anniversary festivals in some of the country’s cities and provinces in line with the strategy to promote domestic tourism, reports Angola’s Angop news agency.

The decision to support local authorities and provincial governments is seen as a way to promote regional traditions and events and also attract tourists to local festivals, the agency specifies, citing a ministry source.

The ministry therefore plans to support, similar to the Festivals of the Sea in Namibe province, the Festisumbe festival in Sumbe (Cuanza Sul province), Festivals of Our Lady of the Mount in Lubango (Huíla) and Festi-Calulo (Cuanza Sul), among others. (macauhub)
