Angola’s Endiama Mining to set up head office in Lunda Norte province

24 January 2013

The head office of Endiama Mining, a subsidiary of Empresa Nacional de Diamantes de Angola (Endiama), will be located in the city of Dundo (Lunda Norte province) to ensure effective management of mining projects and increase production, the Minister for Geology and Mines announced in Luanda.

Francisco de Queiroz was speaking during a ceremony where new officials in charge of various ministerial departments took office. He said that diversification of mining operations was a government priority, with the aim of stimulating state revenues and holdings and improving the population’s living conditions.

To accomplish the ministry’s strategy, it is important to implement and carry out the Mining Code and the National Geology and Mines Plan, instruments meant to functionally modernise the sector and calculate the country’s mining potential, Queiroz said.

“The system for commercialising diamonds must adjust to the Mining Code, as the new Regulatory Agency for the Strategic Mineral Market begins working,” he added.

Endiama Mining is one of the partners in the Cacula diamond project under way in Lucapa (Lunda Norte), along with the companies Sitramal, Jall, Sassir and Solaris, reports the Jornal de Angola newspaper. (macauhub)
