Work to build the Meliá White Sands, a five star hotel in Cape Verde, is due to begin in September, according to Cape Verdean newspaper A Semana.
The newspaper said that negotiations between The Resort Group, the hotel’s promoter, and the Tourist Development Company of the Islands of Boa Vista and Maio were at an advanced stage, and that the Detailed Plan had already been approved, and that the project now only needed to be announced in the country’s Official Bulletin.
The hotel will be built in Santa Mónica, an 18-kilometre beach, and will have 850 rooms and an array of restaurants, bars, swimming pools, sports facilities, a convention centre and children’s playgrounds.
It will also be the first hotel to be managed by the Spanish group on Boa Vista Island, and the fourth unit of the Meliá group in the Cape Verde archipelago. (macauhub)
