Cape Verde will take part in tourism fairs in Lisbon (BTL), from 27 February to 3 March and in Berlin (ITB), between 6 and 10 March, said Isabel Duarte, from the Cape Verdean Investment Agency (CI), cited by weekly newspaper A Semana.
Cape Verde will have its own stand at BTL set up by the Cape Verdean Investment Agency (CI) and it will represent airline Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde, the General Tourism Directorate as well as a number of national and international operators, mainly travel agencies and hotels.
The Lisbon Tourism Bourse (BTL), as well as having exhibitors from all four corners of the globe, includes themed meetings, presentations of destinations an gastronomic and cultural presentations, and it is one of the biggest European tourism fairs.
Duarte noted that the aim was to promote Cape Verde as a destination, despite the fact that Portugal is already a consolidated market, in this respect.
“We are going to focus on promoting the sun and the beach, which is what the Portuguese prefer, but we will also show alternatives such as cultural and mountain tourism,” she said.
In relation to the Berlin fair, Duarte said that it would be attended in partnership and that Cape Verde would not have its own stand.
ITB, which is considered to be the world’s largest tourism fair, plays host to over 100 countries and opens its doors to sector professionals to carry out projects and do business deals. (macauhub)
