Turkey’s participation in the 30th edition of the Luanda International Fair (Filda), is expected to involve over 100 companies, exceeding the number of companies from Portugal, which is usually the main international participant, for the second year running, said the commercial attaché to the Turkish embassy in Angola.
Faruk Comert told Angolan weekly newspaper Expansão that although the country’s participation in Angola’s main trade and industry fair, due to be held in July, had grown and exceeded Portugal’s participation in 2012, Turkish companies are still finding it difficult to invest in Angola.
The commercial attaché said that the increase in the number of Turkish companies taking part in the next edition of FILDA was due to Turkish investors and businesspeople that plan to focus on the Angolan market because of high levels of growth seen in Angola recently.
“We are going to increase the number of companies this year because the Angolan economy has grown a lot and we do not want to be left out of this growth,” noted the Turkish diplomat.
The Turkish embassy in Angola, in partnership with the National Private Investment agency (ANIP), is due to organise two seminars on investment opportunities in Angola, which will be held in the Turkish capital, Istanbul, this month, and in Luanda in May. (macauhub)
