28 February 2013

The Cape Verdean government plans to focus on training in the sea sector by establish the Sea School on the island of Sao Vicente, which will be part of an international network, said the Cape Verdean minister for Higher Education, Science and Innovation.

Minister António Correia e Silva said that the future Sea School will be an independent unit of Cape Verde University (UNI-CV), according to Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress.

The school will create a “very strong interface” with other State and private educational facilities whilst also being part of an international network to which UNI-CV already belongs, to promote high quality post-graduate training, Correia e Silva said.

According to the minister, UNI-CV already belongs to the International Sea Campus headed up by the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, and has a “very strong” link to the Canary Islands. (macauhub)
