1 March 2013

Learning Portuguese as a language for business was presented Thursday in Lisbon by the board of the Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE) to the assistant secretary general of Forum Macau Rita Santos, the business school said in a statement.

The meeting presented some academic programmes that have been recently created under the Portuguese & Business banner, and for which the university has already done deals with Shanghai International Studies University and Beijing Foreign Studies University, which offer a potential market of 200 students.

Nova SBE offers a double major in Portuguese and Business, which includes students doing two years at their original university (students of Portuguese) and another two years in Lisbon (students of business management).

These programmes also allow students to choose to study for a year in Portugal, qualifying them for a certificate in Portuguese and business from Nova as well as a summer programme for business in Portuguese.

In Portuguese & Business, students can sign up for classes such as “Portuguese for Business” and “Economic History of the Portuguese-speaking World,” as well as other specific economics classes, and at the end of the course the students can choose to do six-month internships in Portugal, Angola, Mozambique or Brazil.
