A plot of land covering 400 hectares on the outskirts of the town of Chinjenje, in Angola’s Huambo province, has been identified by technical staff of the Ministry for Transport and Urbanism as appropriate for building a new aerodrome, said a technician from the provincial Urbanism office.
Nadir Gomes, an architect at the provincial office, told Angolan news agency Angop that the town’s current aerodrome would be closed because it is too close to the town itself, putting the population are risk and limiting construction of other facilities.
Now that the plot has been identified the project will now move on to the study phase and later the area, some 5 kilometres from the centre of town, will be levelled.
The town of Chinjenje is located around 118 kilometres west of the city of Huambo, in the province of the same name. (macauhub)
