Cape Verde’s flagship airline, TACV, on 3 April suspended its flights to Bissau, the capital of Guinea Bissau, the company announced, explaining the decision was based on a new commercial strategy.

“Considering the seasonal character and low occupation of flights to Bissau, the board has decided to suspend that route,” said a statement issued by the company, adding that “this year the crisis is affecting the whole region, and, naturally, the viability of flights to that destination.”

The board of TACV also said it had taken the steps needed to secure the rights of passengers that have already bought tickets.

According to the Cape Verdean press, TACV noted in the statement that it would keep an eye on opportunities for the Guinea Bissau destination, and could re-launch flights as soon as the market showed improvements.
