Macau received 7 million visitors in the first quarter of 2013, which was a rise of 1.9 percent against the same period of 2012, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said.
According to DSEC, the number of visitors from mainland China (4.4 million), Hong Kong (1.7 million) South Korea (128,800) and Thailand (60,800) rose year on year but those from Taiwan, China (238,600), from Japan (76,600) and Malaysia (64,800) fell.
There were also year on year decreases in the number of visitors from countries further away from Macau such as the United states (42,800), Australia (28,800) and Canada (17,700).
In March 2.3 million visitors arrived in Macau, which was a year-on-year increase of 1.6 percent, with visitors from mainland China totalling 1.4 million, or 1.1 percent less than in March 2012. (macauhub)
