The first international fair for agricultural and livestock businesses in Cape Verde is due to take place in July in Praia, the capital of the archipelago, said the chairman of the Cape Verde International Fair (FIC) company said.
The fair, which is partnered by the Ministry for Rural Development and the Santa Cruz Municipal Council, is intended to “contribute to drawing up a strategy to allow for a new role in the market, commercial and tourist circuits,” in a “more professional” way and with “quality associated services,” said Luís Cardoso.
The chairman of FIC said that the fair is also intended to boost production, the promotion and internationalisation of the sector, as well as bringing producers closer to technological innovations and specific solutions for their business, with a view to economic, social and environmental development.
According to Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress the event will showcase agricultural machinery, seeds and plants, fertilizers and products to treat blight, automatic systems and new irrigation technologies.
“We will have a strong focus on exhibitors from the Canary Islands and Brazil, which have similar agricultural factors as ours,” noted Cardoso.
The cape Verdean government is currently seeking potential investors to set up a logistics company, to be based in Praia, to unify the emerging agro-business market, and which will focus on collecting agricultural products, packaging them and placing them on the tourist market. (macauhub)
