A website for the Angolan Ministry for Science and Technology to bring together Angolan researchers, scientists, teachers and students in a single platform is expected to start operating within six months, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

The website, which is being developed by Portuguese company CiênciaMetrics and will be managed by Angolan technicians, will provide news, editorial, seminars and events, scientific jobs, Phd and masters theses and will also house a scientific forum for Africa all in a single location.

At the official presentation of the initiative, at which the contract between the Angolan government and the Portuguese company was signed, the national director for Technological Development ad Innovation, Gabriel Luís Miguel, said that he hoped the new platform would integrate Angola’s National Science, Technology and Innovation System.

“Its users will have a platform with varied information, which will help to integrate technological pre-requisites in the country’s development strategy,” he said, cited by Angop.

The tool will also help to “bring together information” from the country’s public and private research centres, and will allow for a link with existing websites, Marques added. (macauhub)
