19 June 2013

The Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Tuesday opened a representative office in Fuzhou, the capital of the Chinese province of Fujian, which is the fifth in mainland China, according to officials.

The new office is added to existing offices in Hangzhou (Zhejiang province), Jieyang (Guangdong), Chengdu (Sichuan) and Shenyang (Liaoning).

According to IPIM, this new office is intended to support Macau companies that have set themselves up in Fuzhou and may also cover markets in the Fujjian economic area and the Western coast of the Taiwan Straits.

At the same time the aim is to “provide favourable conditions for companies in Fujian and even those on the Western coast of the Taiwan Straits to invest in Macau or use the economic and trade services platforms in the territory to access foreign markets, especially those in Portuguese-speaking countries.”

The inauguration of the new IPIM office took place at the same time as the 11th edition of the Cross-Straits Technology and Projects Fair, in which a Macau delegation took part led by the Secretary for the Economy and Finance, Francis Tam. (macauhub)
