Tourism Promotion Institute seeks to improve Angola’s image abroad

4 July 2013

Angola’s Tourism Promotion Institute aims to improve how the company is presented in tourism fairs, especially those abroad, said its new director general Eugénio Clemente.

Clemente told Angolan news agency Angop that an action plan will be prepared for tourism promotion programmes and other provincial government initiatives.

Those programmes include events such as the Festivals of the Sea (Namibe province) and of Our Lady of the Mount (Huíla), along with city festivals in Malanje and Sumbe (Cuanza Sul), among others, he said.

Clemente, who took office last 28 June, said the Tourism Promotion Institute aimed to bring tourism operators and society closer together so they can meet the country’s challenges, by means of policies meant to create incentives for tourism packages in all the country’s provinces.

As part of its activities the Institute has regularly taken part in international fairs in countries such as South Africa, Portugal, Spain, Germany and Cuba, and this year should be present for the first time at fairs in Ghana and several Asian countries. (macauhub)
