Angolan oil company Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola (Sonangol E.P.) may soon launch oil exploration and production in Vietnam, Angola’s Oil Minister, Botelho de Vaconcelos said.
According to Angola’s Oil Minister, cited by news agency Angop, agreements between the two countries have been approved and ratified making it possible to carry out agreements signed five years ago outlining two-way cooperation in the oil sector.
“Conditions have been created so that oil companies from both countries (Sonangol and Vietnam’s state oil company) have the institutional support to identify a number of projects and so that the aims of both companies can be carried out,” Botelho de Vasconcelos told Angop.
The minister also said that from now on it would be possible to explore oil both in Angola and Vietnam “on an equal footing.”
Vietnam’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Pham Binh Minh, who is currently visiting Angola, in a brief speech, said that the oil sector was an “unequivocal priority,” in the relationship between Vietnam and Angola. (macauhub)
