Portuguese construction companies interested in refurbishing port of Maputo in Mozambique

Portuguese construction companies Mota-Engil and Soares da Costa are set to apply for pre-qualification for the public tender to refurbish Maputo International airport, in Mozambique, Portuguese financial daily Diário Económico reported.

The contract, according to the newspaper, is worth an estimated US$300 million.

The airport was recently built by Chinese company Anhui Foreign Economics Construction Corporation (AFECC).

According to Mozambican news agency Agência de Informação de Moçambique (AIM) the project will be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Development Agency (AFD).

According to the tender announcement this project will include relaying the runway surface, building new road surfaces and replacing luminous signage in the ramp areas.

The project also includes construction of a new fuel pipeline to supply aircraft, drainage work, and training for civil works maintenance. (macauhub)
