The average price per square metre for housing bought in the second quarter of the year in Macau totalled 88,957 patacas (US$11,119), which was a quarterly rise of 14 percent according to the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.
The rise was due unfinished housing units being sold at high prices making up a significant part of the total transactions.
On the Macau peninsula the average price per square metre for unfinished or off-plan housing units rose 16 percent, and on Taipa Island fell by 1 percent.
The average price per square metre for unfinished housing units that were sold in the period was 108,903 patacas (US$13,612), rising 12 percent.
For units that have already been finished, the average price per square metre was 63,130 patacas (US$7,891), having risen 6 percent in the quarter.
The average price per square metre for housing bought on the Macau peninsula and on Taipa Island both rose by 5 percent, whilst the price on Coloane Island rose by 42 percent. (macauhub)
