Macau casino company Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) is partnering Italian fashion house Versace to build a hotel branded as the “Palazzo Versace” the company said Tuesday.
The new, five-star hotel, will be amongst SJM’s projects in the Cotai area (between the islands of Coloane and Taipa) and will be the Italian brand’s first hotel in Asia, according to the company’s statement.
SJM, which was founded by Macau gaming magnate Stanley Ho, was given official approval in May to build a hotel/casino with 2,000 rooms and 700 gaming tables in Cotai. The unit will be the company’s first in the area, which is intended to be an Asian version of the Las Vegas Strip.
The chairman of SJM, Ambrose So, noted that the joint skills of Versace and the casino concession holder would offer “visitors an unforgettable experience and boost Macau’s role as a first class tourism and entertainment destination.” (macauhub)
