Mozambique’s Statistics Institute standardises statistics procedures

29 August 2013

The Mozambican National Statistics Institute (INE) is set to approve a procedures manual for statistical production and technical certification with a view to making statistical operations more uniform, Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reported.

The newspaper said that the manual would be published as part of the 17th anniversary of INE on 28 August, which included a meeting for national planning and evaluation of activities in the first half of the year.

The document, according to a source from the National Statistics Institute provides guidelines for all sectors involved in producing and publishing official statistics and will also make it possible for the National Statistics System to operate in a more effective and coordinated way to manage statistical production processes.

The procedures manual includes nine stages – specification of statistical needs, project design, design of data collection instruments, data collection and analysis, dissemination of statistical information, archiving and evaluation of the production process. (macauhub)
