New Angolan cement factory to begin production in December

13 September 2013

The Cuanza Sul cement plant will this December begin producing cement to be commercialised under the Yeto brand, company president Manuela Vieira Lopes said on Thursday, reports the Angop news agency.

The final equipment assembly phase is now under way and the trial phase should begin in October and production in December, Vieira Lopes said.

Last February factory unit manager Tembua Mucazo Roberto told Angop that the plant would begin activity by producing 4,200 tons of clinker (raw material for cement production) per day and later produce 4,500 tons of cement per day.

The project costs an estimated US$ 600 million and counts financing from South Korea’s Samsung Corporation group. It is located in a region with reserves of clay, limestone and other raw materials needed to produce cement that can be exploited for 100 years.

The ETA Star company from Dubai is in charge of the work, which is supervised by Angola’s JVT. (macauhub)
