Macau government supports convention and exhibition industry

8 October 2013

The government of Macau has been improving infrastructures and other support facilities to encourage growth of the territory’s convention and exhibition industry, the president of the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) said.

During an interview with Macao Image magazine, Jackson Chang explained that the territorial government via its respective services provides comprehensive support for growth of that industry. Among other aspects, this includes facilitating visits by entrepreneurs to Macau and incentives such as the use of installations or coverage of associated costs.

Macau offers many advantages for holding conventions and exhibitions, foremost of which is that it has long been a meeting point between East and West for economic, trade and cultural activities, Chang said.

Other advantages are that it is a free port and an independent fiscal region with very low tax rates, as well as its role as a regional economic and financial services platform. (macauhub)
