16 October 2013

Angola’s 1st Industrial Census, an iniciative included in the National Development Plan, which is intended to assess the sector’s production capacity, is due to be presented in Luanda Wednesday by the Minister for Industry Bernarda Gonçalves Martins.

According to a statement from the Industry Ministry, the census is a new tool to collect and process all relevant information about the Angolan industrial sector and resulting data will be included in the Integrated Information System of the Industry Ministry.

The census is intended to give a clearer picture of the industrial sector and to detect the threats and opportunities facing it, improve its competitiveness and develop activities to support industry.

In an initial phase, information will be gathered through a personalised survey for each industry owner, carried out by Industry Ministry staff. Census workers will also take photographs of and geo-reference each industrial unit. (macauhub)
