US group Chevron plans to increase its network of suppliers in Angola in order to support development of local businesses and allow more Angolan companies to operate in the oil sector, said the director of Chevron Angola, Sérgio Ferreira.
Speaking to Angolan newspaper Jornal de Angola, Ferreira said that the company was working with the Angolan government to set up a database of local suppliers in order to develop Angolan companies.
The group is due to hold a meeting Thursday headed up by Supply Chain Manager, Steven Thibodeaux, to present the procedures for hiring companies to provide goods and services, and the meeting is expected to be attended by over 100 Angolan businesspeople.
Chevron announced that it expected production to increase in 2015 when production begins at the Mafumeira Sul, with a capacity of 110,000 barrels per day. (macauhub)
