The 1st Angolan Industrial Census (Ciang) began Monday in Benguela province, after being launched in Luanda and Cabinda provinces, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
Launching the census in the province, the Minister for Industry, Bernarda Martins, said that Benguela province had a significant number of factory units and added that for the census to be successful companies needed to provide the requested information.
The census, she said, was intended to provide the government with real and updated information about the country’s industrial sector to that it can approve concrete measures to support and boost it.
“The main aim of the Angolan Industrial Census is to survey and study the country’s industrial fabric in order to get a clear picture of its manufacturing industry, as well as detecting threats and opportunities,” said Martins.
The census is expected to be finished in August 2014. (macauhub)
