Mozambique opens consulate in Macau

8 November 2013

Mozambique is expected to open a consulate in Macau by the end of the year, Macauhub has learned from a source from the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP).

The same source said that the consul for the Macau consulate had already been nominated and that all that was required was for some formalities to be processed for the new facilities to open.

Mozambique will be the third Portuguese-speaking country to have a consulate in Macau after Portugal and Angola, which opened their consular offices in 1999 and 2007, respectively.

César Velho Rodrigues has been Mozambique’s honorary consul in Macau since the 1980s.

Cabo Verde’s honorary consul in Macau is businessman David Chow. (macauhub)
