Cabo Verde government creates tax office for large taxpayers

20 November 2013

The government of Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) has set up the Large Taxpayers Office to make it easier to collect taxes and “improve compliance with the principal and accessory obligations of the taxpayers,” according to the Cape Verdean press.

In a publication in the country’s official bulletin, the Finance Ministry said that the new tax office would cover all taxpayers with “turnover of over 200 million and that have paid taxes of over 15 million escudos or companies with a high level of associated risk.”

The calculation of the figures to establish who is a large taxpayer is based on income statements, and risk levels are based on application of software especially developed for that purpose. (macauhub)
