Macau received 24.3 million visitors between the months of January and October of this year, which was an increase of 5 percent against the same period of 2012, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said.
In that period the number of visitors from mainland China and South Korea rose by 11 percent and 6 percent, respectively, and the number of visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan fell by 4 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
In the period there were also year on year decreases in the number of visitors from countries further away from Macau such as the United States (144,800), Australia (88,300) and Canada (59,900) and an increase in the number of visitors from the United Kingdom (49,600).
In October alone Macau received 2.39 million visitors, or 2 percent more year on year, 1.5 million of which, or 62 percent of the total, were from mainland China. (macauhub)
