3 December 2013

Four Retail Banks – Banco Privado Atlântico, Caixa Geral Totta de Angola, Banco Angolano de Negócios e Comércio (BANC) and Banco Millennium Angola – Monday in Luanda signed the agreement for the “Bankita” range of products.

In a statement, Angola’s central bank said that the four banks had joined the other nine retail banks that launched the project in 2011 – Banco de Poupança e Crédito (BPC), Banco de Comércio e Indústria (BCI), Banco Comercial Angolano (BCA), Banco de Fomento (BFA), BIC, KEVE, Banco de Negócios Internacional (BNI), Banco SOL and BAI Microfinanças.

The “Bankita” project is intended to improve the access of the lower income population to basic financial services, thus improving social inclusion and reducing poverty.

The “Bankita” deposit is a deposit account with a minimum initial investment of 100 kwanzas.

The “poupança Bankita a crescer” long-term deposit account is intended to encourage people to save and also offers interest on savings as well as protecting them. The minimum initial investment is 1,000 kwanzas. (macauhub)
