Studies for new M’banza Congo airport in Angola begin

5 December 2013

The project to build the new airport of M’banza Congo is at the stage of technical studies by the Transport Ministry, the governor of the Angolan province of Zaire, José Joanes André said Tuesday.

The governor told Angolan news agency Angop that the studies may only be concluded at the end of 2014 but said that the new airport would definitely be built.

André said that two technical teams had travelled to the city, one from national airport manager Empresa Nacional de Aeroportos e Navegação Aérea and the other from the Air Force, in order to decide on the best location for the new airport.

“There were six options and the Nkiende location was chosen, which is around 38 kilometres from the city of M’banza Congo, as it has the best conditions for the facility,” said the governor. (macauhub)
