The Fugro group (http://www.fugro.com/) from the Netherlands, recently opened an office in Maputo and set up Mozambique’s only internationally-accredited laboratory, the group said in a statement issued in Leidschendam, the Netherlands.
This decision, according to group officials, is intended to provide services to customers involved in oil and natural gas exploration in the region and help the group to develop its business in Mozambique in the construction, mining and hydrology sectors.
Located in Pemba, the capital of Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, the laboratory carries out ISO 17025 soil, chemical and electrical analyses, and tests materials and aggregates.
The list of services now available in Mozambique includes onshore tests, geotechnical engineering studies and airport paving analysis, as well as diving and sea rescue services as well as geo-spatial services and positioning at sea.
The director of Fugro Moçambique, David Taillant, said that the group planned progressively to increase the number of Mozambican citizens it hires. (macauhub)
