TAP Air Portugal will suspend links to Guinea-Bissau at the end of this year, with the end of extraordinary flights between Dakar and Bissau, the company indicated in a statement released in Lisbon.
“The contract with the Senegalese company ends with the flight that leaves Lisbon on next Monday 30 December, returning on Tuesday morning, whereby TAP will stop its Lisbon/Dakar/Bissau/Dakar/Lisbon flights,” the text reads.
The special operation began when TAP suspended normal operations to Guinea-Bissau following the forced boarding of 74 passengers with false documents at Bissau’s airport.
After that incident on 10 December, and due to the approach of Christmas, TAP “decided to temporarily promote extraordinary flights between Lisbon and Dakar, chartering an aircraft from Senegal Airlines to transport passengers between the capital of Senegal and Bissau”.
The suspension of this operation may mean the end of air links between Bissau and Europe, as security conditions to enable resumption of flights on the Lisbon/Bissau route are currently being evaluated. (macauhub)
