Construction of a real estate project with a total of 4,000 apartments is due to begin in March on the outskirts of the city of Ndalatando, the capital of the Angolan province of Kwanza Norte, the deputy provincial governor Erindo Ernesto Lidador said.
The deputy governor, who is responsible for the technical and infrastructure sector in the province, told Angolan news agency Angop that preliminary work was already underway with a view to launching the project on schedule.
The project, which will be built by Sonangol Imobiliária (Sonip), covers an area of 400 hectares and will be made up of three-, four- and five-storey buildings containing three-bedroom apartments.
Lidador said that the buildings that were due to be built would provide housing for over 30,000 people and would help to reduce the housing deficit in the region and improve the image of the city of Ndalatando.
The deputy governor noted that the first apartments were due to be concluded by the end of 2014, whilst the whole project would be completed within three years.
Kwanza Norte province, in north-west Angola, located 190 kilometres from the country’s capital, Luanda, has an area of 20,252 square kilometres and an estimated population of 500,000 people in 10 municipal areas. (macauhub)
