Cabo Verde’s year-on-year inflation totalled 1.5 percent in 2013, which was 1 percentage point less than the 2.5 percent inflation rate in 2012, the archipelago’s National Statistics Institute (INE) said in Praia.
Goods and services (+5.4 percent), communications (+4.5 percent), house rents, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+4.4 percent), accessories, home equipment and maintenance (+2.6 percent), beverages, alcohol and tobacco (+2.3 percent) and health (+1 percent), were the categories that saw the highest price rises.
There were also drops in the price index of the categories of leisure, recreation and culture (-3.8 percent), food and non-alcoholic drinks (-1.9 percent), hotels, restaurants, cafés and similar (-0.6 percent).
In December the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.1 percent against the same month of 2012. (macauhub)
