Portuguese construction company Soares da Costa awarded new contract in Mozambique

17 January 2014

Portuguese construction company Sociedade de Construções Soares da Costa has been awarded a new construction contract in Mozambique, specifically in the Nacala Railroad Corridor, in the north of the country, Soares da Costa said.

In a statement published by the Portuguese stock market regulator, CMVM, the Portuguese group said the contract signed with the Northern Development Corridor (CDN) followed another contract signed in April 2013.

Soares da Costa has carried out a number of rail renewal projects in Mozambique and was also involved in expanding and repairing Pemba airport, for example.

In November 2013 Angolan businessman António Mosquito took a controlling stake of 66.7 percent in Soares da Costa, under the terms of an agreement with Manuel Fino, a businessman who owned 100 percent of the company. (macauhub)
